iPhone 16 Unveiled

The Apple Glowtime Event was held on September 9th 2024, where we got an insight into what we will see from the latest iPhone and other tech released by Apple. We recently did a blog explaining how the iPhone 16 will differ from the 15 model, and now the new model is here, it’s time to provide some further information on the phone. So let’s look at what to expect from this new model and decide whether it’s worth buying.

Will the iPhone 16 be different?

Compared to the previous Apple phones, the iPhone 16 lens adopts a vertical layout instead of the diagonal layout we have seen from the previous few models. The phone will be available in 5 different colours. Whilst previously we have seen red, grey and lavender versions of the iPhone, the 2024 edition includes colours we haven’t seen before like pink, green and blue alongside the classic and iconic black and white options. The iPhone 16 will also offer Apple Intelligence (Apples own AI system), with many features including:

  • Proof reading
  • Record audio recordings and transcripts
  • Priority messages in mail
  • Genmoji
  • Image playground
  • Clean up
  • Personalised Siri
  • Richer language understanding

Along with these design factors, inside the iPhone 16 it will have an A18 chipset instead of A16, plus up to 22 hours video playback and a 6.1” OLED, super Retina XDR display.

What is the iPhone 16 capture button?

One of the biggest different on the iPhone 16 is the infamous Capture lens. After the Action Button was released last year, we assumed that a new button would also be present this year, the Action button and Capture lens are both featured on the iPhone 16, and since we are already up to date on the Action button let’s dive further into the Capture Lens.

This button has touch, zoom and click options which help take perfect photos in record time. Simply slide your finger across the lens to adjust the field of depth, exposure and more to create to ultimate photo.

In our opinion, we don’t think the capture button is needed. The action button could be programmed to work as an optional camera and the phone may appear messy with too many buttons on the side of the screen.

Is the iPhone 16 going to have a better camera?

The iPhone 16 camera has a two-in-one 48MP Fusion camera which lets users take beautiful high-res photos and zoom in perfectly with the 2x optical telephoto lens. As well as this, the phone has Ultra-Wide to shoot extremely close up and there is even a 3D shooting feature called spatial capture, which can then be watched back using Apple Vision Pro.

With the Apple Intelligence feature also, this means photos will be even crisper, clearer and appear much more professional than before. With the image pipeline, photos moods can be changed by altering the colour of a photo, to give off a completely new aesthetic.

Will the iPhone 16 have a better battery?

Battery life is a major factor when it comes to getting a new phone, and every year Apple try to outdo their previous battery with a more improved and better upgrade. The phone has a much larger battery, thanks to the A18 chipset, along with this a new MagSafe charger for fast wireless charging meaning your phone will charge up to 50% in 30 minutes.
